My miniature has a duration of one minute and appears as track 129 on the album. My acousmatic work “SIMULACRA – on discrete movements and dense textures” (2013), has been selected as one of 37 compositions chosen through the international open call for the 1st Electroacoustic Music Cycle “Meridianos da Escuta” (Meridians of Listening). This cycle is co-organized by three Brazilian academic departments: the Sound Art Research Department at the Federal University of Pelotas; the Composition Department at the State University of Ceará; and the Sound, Music, Media, and Spatiality Research Group at the Federal University of Ceará. The selected works are being presented in a series of concerts throughout July at several venues, including the Federal University of Pelotas Conservatory of Music (Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul), the Museum of Photography (Fortaleza, Ceará), the Alberto Conservatory of Music (Fortaleza, Ceará), among others. I am glad to announce the premiere of SHIFT + COMMAND + B(odies), a new videodance collaboration with North American choreographer Mimi Garrard of the Mimi Garrard Dance Theatre Company. This work probes a hypothetical realm where corporeality encounters digital command. The title, drew from common keyboard shortcuts and computer programming languages, functions both as an analogy and as the piece’s generative poetic premise: what happens when the body becomes simultaneously the instrument and the interface of command? One can expect to listen to glitchy textures, asynchronous polyrhythms, mechanical and industrial sounds, distorted arpeggios and immersive drones, gradually unfolding into a hypnotic and meditative electroacoustic landscape. On April 16th, my acousmatic piece "Circumsphere: to bounce and rebounce" will be presented in the first concert of the 3rd edition of "Listening Room 2026," organized by the Electronic Music and Sound Art program of the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts at the University of Pécs, Hungary. The piece was selected through an international open call that received 164 submissions, divided into two groups of 82 works, from which the program for the concert at the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter of the University of Pécs was curated.

"The NON-HUMAN GESTALT” is my most recent videodance collaboration with North American choreographer Mimi Garrard of the Mimi Garrard Dance Theatre Company. This piece explores what a non-human gestalt might consist of and, consequently, gravitates around the idea of the confrontation between this gestalt and humanity and what it would represent.
The work includes ultra-processed / distorted samples and field recordings of various origins (in an acousmatic approach), contrasted with electronically generated phrases from digital and analog synthesizers, as well as dark and luminous drones.

The day has come: I am pleased to share the official release of the latest album by the Greek band Lost Bodies: HOT STORIES. This double vinyl album includes collaborations with Nikos Veliotis (MΜΜΔ / Mohammad), Celia Tsioufi, and a piece I composed, which records in physical form a collaboration that began live in Athens, in 2003, between myself and Θάνος Λοστ. The piece, titled “Απολαύστε Ελεύθερα” (Enjoy Freely, 17’48”), is structured around Thanos’ voice and texts and is inspired by the work of Austrian writer Peter Handke, particularly “Offending the Public. Calls for Help”. Lost Bodies are a legendary Greek band, founded in Kallithea (Athens) in 1984 by Thanos Kois and Antonis Papaspyros. Since then, they have freely orbited a vast pleiad of genres without fixing in any, gaining recognition for their anarcho-punk attitude and for an uncategorizable musical practice that blends mordant and sardonic social/political commentary with experimental avant-garde music, post-punk, industrial, funk, trip hop, and everything else you can imagine. In every sense of the word, they are a punk band, and their music is intentionally uncategorizable and can only be described as “outer limits”. This is a fully DIY vinyl edition, released by the Lost Bodies’ non-label DIY Airlines. For those in Athens, HOT STORIES will be available for purchase tonight during the album’s official release concert at ILION Plus (doors open at 9:30 PM; more details below). It is with great pleasure that I share the announcement of the forthcoming publication, by the Margarida Losa Institute for Comparative Literature (Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto), of the book "Between the Roots and the Stars: António Ramos Rosa in Dialogue", which brings together texts by various researchers and artists who reflect, in multifaceted ways, on the work of António Ramos Rosa, a Portuguese poet whose centenary is being celebrated throughout 2025. I am pleased to have been invited to take part in this project through the ideation and realization of a musical installation, which was presented a year ago in the exhibition Matéria Viva (Instituto Pernambuco do Porto), as well as an article that will be included in this book and addresses the conception of the installation, in which I also discuss certain aspects related to the composition of soundscapes. The book is currently in press, updates regarding its publication will be shared in due course.

Interlocking Paroxysms is the title of my newest collaboration with North American choreographer Mimi Garrard of the Mimi Garrard Dance Theatre Company. This videodance piece was directed / produced by Mimi and features dancer Samuel Roberts (costumes were designed by Mindy Nelson).
The idea of paroxysm is, in a figurative / emotional sense, a sudden and extreme peak of an emotion, sensation, or reaction, such as joy, pain, or laughter. Hence, Interlocking Paroxysms can be seen as a musical exploration of the unconscious in turmoil, a realm where archetypal forces collide and erupt through symbolic patterns. The piece features erratic electronic glitches that were mixed and processed, along with irregular rhythmic patterns / beats, minimal synthetic arpeggios, a few voices of theremin electronics and organic drones.

An excerpt from my latest long-play soundscape composition Faux Naturel (sections 5 & 6), released in November 2022 by Unfathomless (Belgium – U-77), has been selected through the international call for sound pieces issued by Bolivia’s SUR AURAL Festival 2025 – RE/SONANCIAS.

My most recent acousmatic piece Circumsphere: to Bounce & Rebounce (2024) is part of the program of the 4th edition of the Immersive Festival 2025 (organised by the DME Project), an annual event dedicated to electroacoustic music and the exploration of sonic space. This year’s edition will occur between March 20 and 23 at the Lisboa Incomum in Lisbon. The festival focuses on dome-shaped sound systems, offering an immersive listening experience, where the space becomes a key element in musical composition and perception. In this context, on the first day of the festival, on the 20th of March at 19:30, I will spatialise his work using the multichannel sound system at the Lisboa Incomum, DME Project’s headquarters.

I am glad to announce that my collaboration with Mimi Garrard, a videodance entitled Orphic Laments, will be aired on MNN - Manhattan Neighborhood Network, alongside pieces composed by Mimi Garrard, Jonathan Melville Pratt, and with the dancers Tim Bendernagel, Evan Copeland, Cynthia Koppe. MNN operates two state-of-the-art emerging media production and education facilities in Manhattan and run Manhattan's public access TV channels, reaching some 400,000 cable subscribers in the borough. The presentation will be broadcast by cable tv (NYC only) and streamed, on www.mnn.org on Channel 2 Lifestyle, on Sunday November 24th & December 8th, 2024 at 5pm _ NYC's time.

Mimi Garrard began working with dance and video in the late 1960s when she collaborated with James Seawright on three dance videos, two for WGBH and one for CBS. Medium is the Medium, created for WGBH in 1968, was possibly the first “videodance”. Since digital video editing systems became affordable for home use, she has devoted full time to this medium and, since July 2001, has created more than 900 videodances. They have been presented in Europe, Asia, and the United States.
Mimi Garrard’s video dances are partially funded by The Harkness Foundation for Dance; The David Bermant Foundation: Color, Light, Motion and individual contributors.

“o todo da redonda natureza - narrativas electroacústicas a partir da obra de António Ramos Rosa” is the title of my most recent piece, which will be on display at the “Matéria Viva” exhibition, dedicated to the portuguese eminent poet António Ramos Rosa, which will take place at the Instituto Pernambuco Porto. Curated by Bruno Ministro and Patrícia Esteves Reina, “Matéria Viva” will also include works by Catarina Braga, d1g1t0 individual_coletivo, Isabel Carvalho, among other artists. The piece I was commissioned will have the format of an audio installation, and will consist of a soundscape composition inspired by the author's poetic work, with voice/recitation of poems by Sofia A. Carvalho. The “Matéria Viva” exhibition will open on October 17th, at 18pm, at Instituto Pernambuco Porto, and will run until November 15th.
This exhibition is part of the colloquium: “Entre as raízes e os astros: António Ramos Rosa em diálogo", which will take place between the 17th and 18th of October, at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto and at Casa dos Livros. Finally, both the colloquium and the exhibition are part of the Digital Environmental Humanities research project, entitled “Ver a Árvore e a Floresta. Ler a Poesia de António Ramos Rosa à Distância (2022.08122.PTDC),” from the Instituto de Literatura Comparada Margarida Losa (ILCML) of FLUL (Universidade do Porto), which is funded by FCT through the R&D Project Competition in All Scientific Domains 2021.

On the 11th of October, at 23, me (field recordings / electronics) and Michael Fischer, saxophone (Austria) will perform live at DARC - Desterro, in Lisbon, continuing their collaborative project that, since 2012, in festivals such as: Wien Modern (Vienna), Interpenetration Festival (Graz) and Ostinato Festival (České Budějovice). In order to highlight the individual aesthetic approaches of the musicians in question, this event will take the form of two short solos and a subsequent duo. The duo will consist of an experimental electroacoustic narrative around free improvisation, hypnotic minimalism, noise and silence.

I am glad to share that most recent acousmatic music piece entitled Circumsphere: to Bounce & Rebounce (2024), was one of the works awarded by the Destellos 2024 International Acousmatic Music Competition. The piece received second prize ex aequo, along with the works “Gritscape”, by Roeland Luyten (Belgium) and “OWN.k”, by Kramer Elwell (USA). In addition to this distinction, this work was also a finalist in the MA / IN 2024 (Italy) and Métamorphoses 2024 (Belgium) competitions.

My new acousmatic music piece “Circumsphere: To Bounce & Rebounce” (2024) is part of the selected works of the international contest"MA / IN Intermedia and Electroacoustic Music Festival 2024", within the Category A (acousmatic music). In collaboration with the CRM (Centro di Ricerche Musicali) of Rome, the selected works will be played at MA / IN’s partner festival "ArteScienza 2024", which will be held at the Goethe Institute, in Rome, between July 4th & 14th. From the selected works, the jury will determine the category winners, plus any honourable mentions, and the awarded pieces will also be featured at the MA/IN festival, later in 2024.

I am thrilled to announce the release of “(C)OVID'S METAMORPHOSES”, an international experimental interdisciplinary ART project developed during the last 3 years, with the participation of 133 international artists (sound artists, film makers, writers, photographers, etc.), that was conceptualized and curated by Bernd Herzogenrath and Lasse-Marc Riek during and about the covid19 pandemic. It’s a gigantic broken telephone game / exquisite corpse, inspired by Ovid’s classic text “Metamorphoses”. I am very glad to have contributed to the project with a sound piece entitled “The Rod of Asclepius”, and to be representing Portugal alongside artists as Francisco López, Annea Lockwood, Thomas Köner, Robin Rimbaud (Scanner), Lee Scratch Perry, Brandon LaBelle, Angélica Castello, Thelmo Cristovan, Jörg Piringer, and many more amazing artists. This huge ART project includes a box set with a 200 pages full color book, 7 CDs, and 2 data DVDs, and was recently released by the wonderful meakusma label. This is an extraordinary project, which probably represents, thus far, the biggest collective artistic meditation about the covid19 pandemic, as it proves that ART is one of The main keys and ways to resist and creatively metamorphose dramatic contexts and situations! I am very glad to share the release of HYPO-STASIS, which is the title of the collaborative album by me and Anastasis Grivas - Greek composer, performer and curator -, which will be published by the Swiss label Grimaces Éditions on November 24th. This is the edition of a book-record of improvised electroacoustic music, with design and visual work by João Castro Pinto, and that will be published in a risography printed edition, limited to 50 copies. Hypo-Stasis is the musical result of this collaborative duo, which started in 2003, between Anastasis Grivas (custom prepared guitar, objects and contact mics) and João Castro Pinto (laptop, electroacoustic processing).
To mark the release of HYPO-STASIS, on the 24th at SMOP - Sociedade Musical Ordem e Progresso, in Lisbon (at 9pm), João Castro Pinto will give a concert, organized by Nariz Entupido, using samples from the album and reinterpreting it via laptop (field recordings), controllers midi and synthesizer.

“FAUX NATUREL” (Unfathomless 2022 - U77), my latest soundscape composition piece recently released by Unfathomless, was selected by the international call for entries of the French association APNÉES (Association pour la Performance, l’Électroacoustique et les Expérimentations Sonores) to be part of the installation / listening device of the 3rd Edition of the festival PAYSAGES | COMPOSÉS 2023 - Écologie sonore ‧ Musiques de recherche, an event centered on field recordings, sound ecology and acousmatic music, that will take place in various locations of the city of Grenoble, between the 8th and 10th of September 2023. This event features a program of conferences, round tables, workshops, performances and concerts by guest artists, such as: Jérôme Noetinger, Juliette Volcler, Mélia Roger, François Leclère, Collectif PePaSon, among others, also featuring a plethora of pieces (stereo, binaural and multichannel), that derive from the call for entries, which received 191 submissions, from 37 countries. Movements n.º 5 and 6 of Faux Naturel, namely: "dramactions / fence et al." & "dock / orchestral autopoiesis & other forms", will be listened via the installation in the Garden of Plants of the Natural History Museum of Grenoble, on Sunday, September 10th (10:00 - 18:00).

I am glad to announce the pre-release of the CD “LISBOA SOA - Sounds Within Sounds” (Crónica Electrónica - ce 207 / official release date: 26.09.2023). This first discographic edition of Lisboa Soa Festival includes Efflux (2021), a piece I composed in 2021 which was recently distinguished by Sound / Image Festival 2022 (University of Greenwich, London). This album contains four pieces that correspond to the result of commissions made to Portuguese composers / sound artists, for the creation of new works based on the sound archives of the first five editions of the festival (2016-20). The CD will have its pre-release today around 5 pm, at Quartel Largo Cabeço de Bola, in Lisboa, as part of the installations program of the festival. The installation “Sounds Within Sounds” will continuously play the four pieces that compose the album, which will be on sale during the festival.

I am thrilled to announce that I will be participating in a 2 day music event, organised by Miso Music Portugal, entitled ELECTROACOUSTIC SPRING EQUINOX at O'Culto da Ajuda, in Lisboa, an event dedicated to electroacoustic Portuguese music. In this first edition 2 composers were invited to present their work, namely António Ferreira and me. On the first day, on April 1st, I will make a small conference about my work , and António will present some of his pieces. On Sunday, the 2nd of April, António will make a conference and afterwards will be the Portuguese premiere of my latest solo soundscape album FAUX NATUREL. I will spatialize the album in its entirety via Miso Music's Loudspeaker Orchestra. On both days there will also be debates on electroacoustic music, moderated by Miguel Azguime.

This piece entitled “Seasons of the Mind” and explores natural ambiences (birds dawn chorus; aquatic scenes / sounds (beach sounds, rain, wind, etc…) and has 3 different parts. The first part is meditative / minimal, the 2nd more open and diversified, in terms of field recordings and electronic sounds concatenation, and, finally, the 3rd part delves into dissonances and melancholic ambiences.

EFFLUX, a recent piece of soundscape composition I composed, which was commissioned by Festival Lisboa Soa 2021, was selected from a universe of more than 400 proposals (among articles and pieces), for the International Festival / Music Conference “Sound - Image 2022”, organized by the University of Greenwich, which will take place in London between the 18th and 20th of November 2022. The Festival has the presence / pieces of composers and field recordists such as Trevor Wishart and George Vlad, among others.
I will spatialize EFFLUX through the Sound - Image Loudspeaker Orchestra, on the 19th of November at 16:00, in the Stockwell Street Building, of the University of Greenwich (10 Stockwell St, London, SE10 9BD).

I was selected within the scope of an international call to carry out an artistic residency at the DOCK ZUID centre, in Tilburg (Netherlands), which will take place between the 3rd and 16th of November. The residency is intended for the composition of a new piece of soundscape composition based on the soundscape of the city of Tilburg. In the context of this residency, I will be interviewed on the 9th of November for a podcast, (which will be uploaded on a date to be announced) and I will give a concert and a short talk about his work on the 13th of November at Dock Zuid, at 2:00pm. At 15:30, I will also have the pleasure to do a live improv electroacoustic collab concert with Roel Meelkop (acoustic instruments & objects), Jos Smolders (live granular modular processing / electronics) and me on field recordings and processing.

I will participate in the Field Recordings IV event, organized by WORM, in Rotterdam, an event in which the absolute premiere of a long excerpt from the piece FAUX NATUREL will take place, a piece that in which consists my new monographic the soundscape composition, released by the Belgian Unfathomless, and whose pre-release will take place during the event. The official release of the album will take place on Monday the 14th of November. This event will be attended by composers dedicated to the art of soundscape composition, such as Justin Bennett and students of The Institute of Sonology at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.

I’m glad to share that Tejo Soundwalk, a piece I composed in June 2021, within the scope of the RIVERSSSOUNDS online artistic residency (organised by DZESTRA / SEMI SILENT), will be presented today, alongside with the soundwalks of the other residents, via radio - 87.9FM Glasgow - between 7 pm and 10 pm, at the RADIOPHRENIA itinerant Festival, an event that is running 24 hours a day, from the 7th to the 20th of February, in Glasgow (Scotland).
RADIOPHRENIA is a temporary art radio station broadcasting intermittently from the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow – a two-week long festival exploring current trends in sound and transmission arts.

San Francisco's ‘Another Hole in the Head’ Film Festival is a cinematic excursion into the realms of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, and assorted other genres. Taking its cue from other legendary festivals such as Cannes, Sundance, and Crazy Steve’s Bootleg Basement Extravaganza, Another Hole in the Head pulls together a diverse collection of films representing all varieties and budgetary considerations [...] Another Hole in the Head provides a unique vehicle for independent cinema. This year’s festival takes place December 1st - December 15th, 2021 online and at New People Cinema in San Francisco's Japantown.

RUGITUS, my acousmatic piece that was one of the laureate works of INA-GRM's international electroacoustic music contest "Banc D'Essai 2016", and which I had the pleasure to spatialize in concert at the historical GRM's ACOUSMONIUM (Paris, Oct 2016), will figure on the program of the 5th edition of the MAtera INtermedia FESTIVAL 2021. MAtera INtermedia festival is an electroacoustic music and digital art festival and is held annually in the city of MATERA since 2016.
Rugitus is part of the Audior Loudspeaker's Orchestra concert program, that will happen on the 12th of November, featuring 54 speakers / 44 amplifiers. Spatializing the pieces of the concert will be Audior's founder - the Italian composer Dante Tanzi. The program is made of works selected specially by Dante for this concert, including pieces of Denis Dufour, Emma Margetson, Lieutenant Caramel, Nicola Fumo Frattegiani, Paul Ramage and Daniel Judkovski. Eufonia Festival = Sound/ Art + Science commissioned me a new soundwalk piece to integrate the batch of virtual soundwalks that, in addition to 9 installations, will be part the offer of the Sound Circuits 2021 Festival's program. The installations will be physically disposed in Lisboa, available for visiting, while the soundwalks will be listened online. The festival will run between the 12 and 14th of November. My virtual soundwalk is entitled “(de)ambulatorium: a soundwalk in & around Martim Moniz” and was composed from sounds captured by me in the area of Martim Moniz square, in Lisbon, the city's most multicultural area. My 8 channels acousmatic piece "PAREIDOLIA, or of the dreamt gardens" was selected within the context of the call for entries for the 3rd edition of the EPICENTROOM_International_Audiovisual_Festival_2021, that will run from today, the 9th, till the 17th of October, in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The festival will present several concerts, performances and works from international artists working with experimental music and audiovisual art. EPICENTROOM received more than 110 multichannel submissions, from 21 countries, and PAREIDOLIA was programmed in the (pro)STRANSTVO multichannel sound program Vol.2. The selected pieces will be played through an 8-channels audio installation, allowing the audience to sit and listen to various multichannel spatial works - both electronic compositions and sound installations using field recordings.
EPICENTROOM's (pro)STRANSTVO multichannel sound program Vol.2 will take place on October 10th, at Navicula Artis Gallery, Pushkinskaya 10 Art Center, in Saint Petersburg, from 12:00 to 20:00.

Last 3rd of October was the premiere of "Soundscape Composition: between mimesis and abstraction", a radio show I produced about the art of composing with field recordings for the framework radio. The electroacoustic poetry piece HIANTE, published in a Book-CD format by Grimaces Éditions (Switzerland), with illustrations, poems and voice by Sofia A. Carvalho and my music and illustrations, officially released in September 2019 at O'culto da Ajuda, in Lisbon, was distinguished within the scope of an international competition that received 140 proposals from all over the world, having been selected for exhibition and sale at BOOKED – Artists' Book Fair. Booked is a fair devoted to artists’ books, workshops, and new text-based visual art projects and is taking place at MUU Helsinki Contemporary Art Centre at the Cable Factory’s new multi-use space, in Finland, since the 1st till the 9th of October. HIANTE''s selection implied a live performance by our duo at the fair but, sadly, and due to the pandemic, the organization decided to invite only Finnish artists for the live performances. "WINNER WINNER", a short film by the Australian filmmaker / director Kalani Gacon, for which I did the sound design, was selected by the 15th Annual Sydney Underground Film Festival 2021. Established in Sydney, Australia, in 2007, the Sydney Underground Film Festival showcases the newest voices of underground and independent films.This year's edition will be online and the streaming on demand will happen from Thursday the 9th until Sunday the 26th September 2021.

In 2021 the Lisboa Soa festival, in a "non-edition" aimed at recovering and thinking about the work carried out in previous editions, will release the book "Sound Art, Ecology and Listening Culture: Lisboa Soa 2016 – 2020". In this context, the artistic direction of the festival commissioned me a piece based on the sound archives of the 5 editions of the festival, with the aim of recreating and recomposing the festival's sound archive. The premiere of the piece will take place within the scope of the book launch event, in a listening session that will also present works by other composers. The event will take place at Castelejo do Castelo de São Jorge, in Lisbon, on the 19th of September at 18:00.

I will do a collaborative performance with the singer Leonor Arnaut, at the Convento de São Francisco, in Coimbra. This performance is part of the program of the event “DAR A OUVIR. SOUNDSCAPES OF THE CITY. 2021” and it's co-organized by the City Council of Coimbra / Convento de São Francisco and by the Education Service of Jazz ao Centro Clube. The performance will be based on field recordings made by me in the city of Coimbra and along various locations on the River Mondego.

The film's title refers to the extrasensory phenomena of being watched!

It's with great pleasure that I announce the official launch of the book "Cultural Geographies of Music, Sound and Silence", in which I have the pleasure of participating with an article. This book was coordinated and edited by The 'Laboratory of Landscapes, Heritage and Territory' (Lab2PT), an R&D unit at the University of Minho, dedicated to Social and Human Sciences, integrating a vast research team from different scientific areas (Archeology, Architecture and Urbanism, Design, Geography, Geology, History and Visual Arts). The book gathers, specifically, the academic contributions of the 2nd International Cultural Geographies of Music, Sound and Silence Meeting, which should have been held in April 2020, at the University of Minho, but which, due to the pandemic, remains to be held. My article is entitled "The Composition of Soundscapes: theoretical delimitations and compositional approaches", and it's part of the research that I concatenated for my PhD dissertation. In the near future this article will be translated to English and will be readable online at my website, more news soon!

I am very glad to announce that my last soundscape piece entitled The No Land Soundscape, published in January 2020 by Hemisphäre の 空虚 (Australia), was selected to be premiered in Mexico, by the call for entries of the Ventanas Acústicas initiative, within the context of the second REA _ MX International Meeting: Red Ecología Acústica México (Red Acoustic Ecology Mexico). This academic and artistic encounter, focused on the discipline of Acoustic Ecology and soundscapes, will happen in Mexico City, from the 9th to the 12th of December 2020. I will do a soundscape composition concert within the context of the EUFONIA 2020 festival, in Barreiro, Portugal. In this concert I will use as main sound sources field recordings gathered while I was on tour in east Europe, in Russia and Estonia, in 2019, and other sounds that were utilized for the composition of my latest soundscape composition solo album "The No Land Soundscape", published in January 2020, by the Australian label Hemisphäreの空虚. HIANTE, a collaboration electroacoustic poetry BOOK-CD with illustrations, poems and voice by Sofia A. Carvalho and music and illustrations by João Castro Pinto, published in 2019 by Grimaces Éditions (Switzerland), was distinguished by being selected to be exposed at BOOKED 2020 - ARTISTS BOOK FAIR, within an international call for entries that received 140 propositions worldwide. This fair is devoted to artists’ books, publications produced by small presses and related forms of art processes and it's organized by MUU, a Finnish interdisciplinary art association. The Fair was supposed to take place at Helsinki’s Cable Factory, between 6-8 November, in Helsinki, Finland, but due to the pandemic of COVID-19, was postponed to the spring of 2021. In September 2020, in the context of the series Portuguese 20th and 21st Century Music Notebooks, the MIC.PT - Portuguese Music Research & Information Centre released a new Notebook, dedicated to João Castro Pinto (number #18). This Series of bilingual editions constitutes an “introspection” into the work of each composer, published by the MIC.PT, at the same time being an incentive to explore and (re)discover not only their music, but also their reflection on music philosophy and aesthetics. I am very glad to announce that I am returning to the United States of America to do a 4 concert tour (3 solos + 1 collaboration), with Sofia A. Carvalho. I will be playing in Philadelphia, Washington DC, Easton and New York City. The solo shows will be soundscape oriented and the collaboration will be an intermedia performance, focused on the poetry universe of Teixeira de Pascoaes, intitled SPECTRUM EXTENSO, with text selection and voice by Sofia A. Carvalho and music, field recordings, voice processing and video by me. The tour begins on the 10th, with a performance at the Vox Populi Gallery, in Philadelphia; continues on the 12th with a concert at the Rhizome, in Washington DC. The third solo concert of this tour will take place December 13th, at the Gallery on Fourth in Easton, Pennsylvania. Finally, on the 16th, me and Sofia A. Carvalho will present the intermediate performance - SPECTRUM EXTENSO - at the EXPERIMENTAL INTERMEDIA FOUNDATION, in New York City.
SPECTRUM EXTENSO is a work-in-progress centered on the artistic re-perspective of Teixeira de Pascoaes' poetic universe. I am glad to announce that my 8 channels piece - Pareidolia, or of the dreamt gardens - was selected to be presented at ESPACIOS SONOROS 2019, a concert cycle that is part of the "III Jornadas de Audio y Acústica en Salta", in Argentina. I am very happy to announce the release concert of 'Hiante' @ O'Culto da Ajuda, in Lisboa, Portugal, next Saturday, the 28th of September 2019.
This concert marks the occasion of the release of 'Hiante', a small electroacoustic poetry Book-CD with illustrations, poems and voice by Sofia A. Carvalho and music and illustrations by João Castro Pinto, published by Grimaces Éditions (Switzerland).
'Hiante' is, simultaneously, Sofia A. Carvalho's first released short poetry book and the result of the ongoing collaboration between her and the composer, performer and researcher João Castro Pinto. The concert will have two parts: the 1st part will be composed by the spatialization of 3 electroacoustic pieces by João Castro Pinto; the second part will consist on a live performance duo, that will intreprete a few segments of 'Hiante' (Sofia A. Carvalho - poetry / voice + João Castro Pinto live electroacoustic dsp / samples).

Finally, the night will end with the integral spatialization of 'Hiante', the electroacoustic poetry piece João Castro Pinto composed for this collaboration project, through Miso Music's Loudspeaker Orchestra.

'Hiante' is the first artistic object developed by this duo, and it is the result of the live electroacoustic work-in-progress entitled 'Spectrum Extenso', focused on the poetry of Teixeira de Pascoaes, which had his first performance in Geneva, in November 2018, as part of the event "pem # 9 poésies en mouvement - réflexions" (organized by the Makaronic Association).

This BOOK-CD is a 50 copies limited edition of, printed in silkscreen, and will be available at sale at the concert venue.

I am thrilled to announce that I will be doing an eastern European tour in Russia and Estonia, specifically in the following cities: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Tartu and Tallinn, from April 19th to May 5th 2019, playing five concerts.
The first concert results from an invitation to play and give a short lecture about my work / soundscape composition at the 11th edition of POETRONICA 2019, a festival featuring a synthesis of sound art, video art, and contemporary poetry. This festival will take place at the National Centre for Contemporary Art / ROSIZO State Museum and Exhibition Centre, in Moscow. The NCCA is the leading Russian state institution specializing in the issues of contemporary art. The activity of the Centre evolves in close cooperation with artists and independent experts in the sphere of contemporary art, art culture and various organizations, such as museums, research institutions, public organizations, both in Russia, and abroad. On the 20th I will participate in a collective collaboration concert with artists featured in POETRONICA program, such as: Alex Pleninger, Pavel Zhagun, Alexander Skidan, Ekaterina Zaharkiv, Nina Alexandrova, Sergey Sdobnov, Gala Pushksrenko, Danila Davidov, etc.

The third concert will be a solo performance at the Sound Museum, in Saint Petersburg, on 26th April 2019, at the Noiseroom concert series of experimental music events.

The fourth concert will happen in Tartu, on May 1st, at Helikoosolek series, where I will also give short lecture about my work.

The last concert of this tour will be at the 40th World Music Days Fesival 2019, in Tallinn. I will spatialize "RUGITUS" at the 51st edition of DME Festival at Conservatório de Música De Seia. This will be my last performance in 2016. The event will occur from 27th to the 230th of December and my concert is programmed for the 28th of December at 16:00.

"RUGITUS", my latest electroacoustic piece, will have today its Polish premiere at the 24th edition of Audio Art Festival 2016, which is running, in Kraków, Poland, from June 25th until November 28th. "PAREIDOLIA, or of the dreamt gardens", my latest 8 channels electroacoustic piece, will be spatialized within the program of the MUSLAB 2015 - International Exhibition of Electroacoustic Music, which is taking place in four countries: Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and France, and in nine different cities, in a total of 20 concerts, organized by the Mexican Association CaminArt. My piece will be played at Centro Cultural Recoleta - Laboratorio de Investigación y Producción Musical in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on November 5th at 18:00.

I am glad to announce the international premiere of "PAREIDOLIA, or of the dreamt gardens", my latest 8 channels electroacoustic piece, that will be spatialized within the program of the 30th concert of the 41st International Computer Music Conference 2015, with the theme "Looking Back, Looking Forward". The conference is happening at the University of North Texas, Denton, USA, from September 25th to October 1st, 2015. My piece will be played at the Lyric Theatre, on October 1st 2015, within the programme of the 30th concert of the conference alongside pieces of Annette Vande Gorne and other composers.

I will do a solo concert at the Electronic Geographies Festival 2015, in Lisboa, on saturday the 28th of March 2015 at 21:30.
This will be the occasion for the national premiere of "Interspersed Memories - on strings, murmurs and gongs", a piece that had its world premiere at the 19th Seoul International Computer Music Festival 2012 (Seoul - South Korea) and the absolute premiere of a remix of "Athanor", a piece composed in 2006. The Portuguese representation in this festival also includes a work from the composer Ângela Ponte.

I will do a solo concert at the 20th edition of Música Viva Festival 2014, in Lisboa, on saturday the 29th of November 2014 at 21:30.

In this concert I will have the opportunity to spatialize 3 recent tape music pieces through the Loudspeakers Orchestra, an array of speakers specially idealized and indicated for the sound projection of tape music pieces.
This will be the occasion for the world premiere of my latest piece, composed at Miso Music's LEC - Laboratory for Electroacoustic Creation, and the national premiere of a piece composed at the Electronic Music Studios of Leeds Metropolitan University, where I was an invited composer in residence, in January 2013. The program is as follows:

I will participate on the 1st SYMPOSIUM OF ACOUSTIC ECOLOGY @ UNIVERSITY OF KENT, England, with a paper on soundscape composition. Catachresis, a soundscape piece composed and released in 2012 (Triple Bath _ more info), will be played at this symposium within the installations program.

I was invited to play at the deep listening series concerts at the Portuguese National Pantheon, where I will present my latest piece entitled SEPTUA - the 7th Part of 1.
This piece is based on field recordings captured in Lisboa, Vienna, Bratislava and Seul and instrumental sounds: tibetan singing bowls, santur, hindu chimes, piano strings and harmonium.

I am glad to announce that I was invited to collaborate with, Berlin based, Swedish sound artist / performer Hanna Hartman and also Portuguese artists: Henrique Fernandes, João Ricardo and Filipe Silva, for a workshop at Casa da Música (Porto - Portugal) and a collaboration performance @ the 10th edition of SERRALVES EM FESTA 2013 (more than 220 events, 40 hours non stop, from 8:00 am - June 8th - to 00:00, June 9th). The workshop is about working with amplified objects and close up listening, and the performance will consist on the results of the workshop. 09.06.2013 - 15:00 @ CASA DE SERRALVES.
